is it OK to use corked wine for cooking?

I've used corked wine before when you don;t need too much, for onion gravy, but not sure if it's worthwhile using it for something like coq au vin where you need a lot. The wine cost OH £65(!!!)in a charity auction, where they said that there was a risk it was corked, so it was cheaper than it should have been if it was perfect, and it's absolutely buggered, I just can;t bear to pour it down the sink!

I think if you use horrid tasting wine in cooking, whether corked or just crap, it'll make your dish taste crap too. Sorry x

Someone out there must have a use for it. Start a new "What can I do with my rubbish tasting wine" thread.
Someone will probably suggest cleaning with it or something
Oh, and get a glass of nice-tasting wine!

Use it to clean the loo. It'll take all the limescale off.

No it is fine to use in cooking
The cooking gets rid of the corky flavour

fantastic idea, shall do just that..............Better (and cheaper!!!) wine already opened as a matter of urgency following disappointment, and surprisingly not finished, roll on the 7pm alcohol watershed! x
