kitchenaid on my wish list this year - baking advice

Have been considering one for a few years and now I have started looking really want one! However I think it will only be useful for me if I can bake cakes using the all in on method. Can you do this with a kitchenaid?

I normally just throw everything into my kenwood food processor and whizz it and not sure want to go back to the creaming method - mainlh because I have never managed not to curdle the eggs!
Also what are they good for?
Any advice would be welcome before I bite the bullet.

Making pavlova! I have never managed it with a handheld electric mixer. It is a doodle with a stand mixer.

I used the food processor method for cakes but have swapped to the stand mixer now. They rise higher, or I could be imagining it :)

I've got a KMix which is very similar to a kitchenaid and I always use the all in one method - works a treat and the cakes come out beautifully. My only tip is don't over mix - it literally only needs 30-60 seconds.

Thank you Jelly and Head. Put my mind at rest, and yes will try pavlovas. Was having a wobble due to the cost, and had visions of it gathering dust whilst I was still using my rusty old food processor.

I use mine for pastry as well as cakes, meringues etc. I sent off for the free cookery book advertised in the packaging and, although much of it is rather advanced for me, there's a section at the beginning with basic shortcrust pastry, sweet pastry (which makes fabulous mince pies), and biscuit recipes which I use all the time.

I have the kmix which is cheaper. You won't regret getting one if you are into baking.

Off to google a Kmix, thanks.

I'm throwing bosch mum in the mix. fabulous mashine!

whatever you are getting, if you make heavier things look out for a high wattage. under 700w is no good for bread for example.

Have discovered bread due to dough hook that came with my mixer! Have drooled over kitchenaids for years but funds just haven't allowed...

Bosch mum is brilliant value.lot more your money and gets much better ratings on which than kitchenaid.

Saw white kitchenaids in Costco in the summer, loads cheaper than JLP, Nisbets etc.
