what is the difference between normal bread and soda bread

soda bread is made with bicarb of soda, rather than yeast, to make it rise. It is a much denser texture but good if you have problems with yeast. I had chronic candidiasis in my early twenties and lived on soda bread for a couple of years and it was ok (though I prefer the normal stuff!).

good thing is you do not need let it rise. it is just as miaou descirbes - a big kind of scone really.

I think it's also made with buttermilk. I think it's the stuff you get all over Ireland, I thought it was lovely - cakey bread mmm.
