I give my 9 mo-old sweet potato fries, which I make by cutting one up into 1/4 inch sections, brushing w/olive oil, and placing on a baking sheet with more olive oil drizzled on it for 30-35 min at 425f (don't know what that converts into for c). I give him fish or chicken fingers, where you cut meat into 1/2 in strips and coat w/mayonnaise, and roll in bread crumb/parmesan cheese mixture and bake. He gets bagels w/cream cheese and an apricot spread that is made by boiling 1 part apple juice concentrate with 1 part dried apricots for about 15 min, and then whirred about in the food processor. He LOVES macaroni and cheese that I make myself, since I don't like the sodium content of those in a box. I make him pumpkin muffins w/raisins + bits of dried apricot, sweetened with 100% apple juice and has wheat germ in it, so is healthy. Or tofu sticks shaken in a bag with crushed cheerios or graham crakers. Sorry so long.

I agree with Yorkiegirl, both of mine have loved penne pasta with sauce at this age. Messy but tasty!!

What about

small strips of cheese
ham slices rolled up
hard boiled eggs
toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches (or whatever) cut into strips
cooked broccoli
I would do pasta in a creamy cheesey sauce and let him pretend it is finger food.
balls of mashed potato (fried if you want into potato cakes) You could do get a small piece of cheese, squidge cold mash around it, and bake in the oven.

great thread
I am in the same boat with my 9mo old.
Lots of good ideas here, may be I can finally kiss goodbye to the dreaded orange mush.
