do you fancy soup?

Twiglett · 15/02/2007 18:30

or curry (assuming you have spices and rice)

doormat · 15/02/2007 18:31

what about lentil burgers
with veg

Twiglett · 15/02/2007 18:31

do you really not have anything else? no eggs / milk / cheese / rice / protein?

Jessajam · 15/02/2007 18:33

hmmmm
Ideally something for ds to have too...he's 18mo, so soup might be asking a bit much of him....but a mild curry would be ok.

Have hunted through kitchen
I have rice and spices.
Also have cous cous
and a bit of bacon
if that helps

plus some dog food, mysterious jar of pickled onions ( well out of date) and three bananas!!!

oh...have milk and eggs.

See! I have so little culinary imagination I can't even spot food in my own kitchen!

doormat · 15/02/2007 18:35

just make a simple batter out of flour

Twiglett · 15/02/2007 18:36

you could add veg to doormats recipe in small florets ... and add some cumin maybe?

Twiglett · 15/02/2007 18:36

you could obviously make a veggy omelette

noonar · 15/02/2007 18:37

cheese and tinned toms? a lentil bake?

Wags · 15/02/2007 18:38

I did sweet potato & Lentil soup last week, was yummy, guess you could do it with carrots instead of sweet pots. It is 4oz red lentils, boiled in water for 15mins. Fry chopped onion until soft then add 1lb diced normal pots & 1lb diced sweet pots, so use carrots there instead, also garlic and I used 2 tabs of patax curry paste, but powder will do. Fry all of that together for a further 5 mins or so then add 2 pints veg stock and cook for about 15 mins. When cooked add lentils and blitz it all together. Really nice.

OK, just seen his age... easy on the curry powder, try and keep it nice and thick, less stock maybe and add pasta to it?

Oati · 15/02/2007 18:41

hmmm aouns to me like you need a take-away

Oati · 15/02/2007 18:41

sounds to me

mateychops · 15/02/2007 18:44

I'd go to the chippy, if I were you.

Jessajam · 15/02/2007 18:44

I'm sorry "make a simple batter" ??? Even that is beyond my knowledge (DH cooks in this household). Like for pancakes????

I can make cheese omlette

So I could cook the veg and chuck it into an omlette ( Hmmmm will ds eat an omlette? Worth a try)

I would make a soup with the red lentils, cauli and carrots. Have the broccoli another day. You could use mild spices such as paprika, cumin, or garam masala, an 18 m o would be fine with that.

Jessajam · 15/02/2007 18:46

We had takeway last night!

It's not a dire situation, honest, there is food around. Stuff in the freezer etc.
I need to use up these veg before they go soggy.

bollocks to the batter .. I'd just give him a banana

although if you have vanilla icecream you could just slice banana down the middle and fry it gently till golden then serve with ice cream .. but that's for you not toddler .. would be a waste on a toddler

Jessajam · 15/02/2007 19:40

That'll be my dessert then!!

Thanks everyone...off to try a thick lentil-y soup I think...
