What do people advise? Budget up to £150 but would consider second hand/eBay. I'm mainly going to use it for bread and cakes but if it came with other attachments , food processor , it would be a bonus.

I've just seen a kenwood prospero for £100, what's the difference between that and a kenwood chef? It's going to live in the cupboard and come out when in use so it doesn't need to look anything special.

We bought a Kenwood Premier last month for £129 (admittedly clearance price) in Currys. I have only used the liquidiser attachment on it so far, but it seems better than the old Kenwood Chef we had for about 15 years (which cost about the same THEN) that burned out earlier in the year.

Aldi have stand mixers with a bunch of attachments in at the moment for about that price. They're designed to look like kitchenaids I think!

I'd be very tempted if my ancient Kenwood Chef gave up the ghost!

I got an Andrew James one off Amazon for about £100 and I'm very happy with it.

Costco have Kitchenaid for about that price - or they did in the summer.

Tesco have a kenwood patisier reduced to £150, the reviews all seem very good.

If you are going to use it for bread you need a strong motor. My Kenwood k mix was great but not strong enough for bread, the motor was only 500w. So I got a Kenwood Chef which has 1400w, much more powerful and better for bread. It also does sponges in seconds.

Look at the specifications for the one that you want.
