what sorts of things does he eat ? has the health visitor said he is underweight? he may well just be a skinny boy!

I agree with donny, he may just be small - what centile was he on last time he was weighed?

Now, my dd2 is a little small and we have been told by the paed she needs to have a high fat diet to keep up to where she should be. Through no fault of ours, she has been a nightmare fussy eater, and has been anaemic. If your hv or gp thinks your boy needs to put on weight, then you may need to look at how much he drinks - our dd2 would much rather drink than eat and will fill up on juice or water. You need to be really strict if this is the case but you will see a remarkable change in eating.

Good nutritious high-fat dishes include cauliflower cheese, macaroni cheese, pizza (pref. home-made), home-made or good-quality pies, shepherds pie with a cheesey mash topping etc. Also plenty of yoghurts and custards are good. HTH.

and full-fat everything - milk, philadelphia, yoghurts etc - keep the low fat stuff for you and dh!

if he eats all those things it sounds like there isn't really a problem. You could try houmous too -- high in fat and calcium.

yes - plenty of snacks won't do any harm!

Ds1 is also skinny, we add peanut butter to his porridge and olive oil to veg, and cheese in omelettes.

My db was skinny as a child and people were always telling my mum to fatten him up, but he just had a very high metabolism and was very active. Try not to worry and hopefully the HV will put your mind at rest.

Hi don't worry he'll be fine 96cm is short for his age so he's probably just going to be petite. There is a huge height diff between two of my dds around 15cm in height and about 2lbs in weight! One is def chunky and one is all legs and nothing on her!
