i think children get a lot of fun out of smoothie makers & juicers-if they have some input into making them it can spur them into trying all sorts of fruit n veg.

misdee · 08/02/2007 15:07

i would sell you mine, but its a juicelady one and was a present from MIL, she will notice it missing lol.

Ceolas · 08/02/2007 15:07

We got one for Christmas but I just sold it on ebay as I knew we'd hardly use it. And it was massive. Another thing to take up worktop space. Hand blender goes in the drawer

yes thats my maon reason for buying one - dds go mad for raw carrot and pepper - they eat peppers like apples! and fruit lasts 2 seconds in this house.

smoothies made with banana or yog are a great instant brekkie too if you are in a rush.
i dont have a smoothie maker, but use juiced apples/pears/strawberries etc as base & blend with other fruit for a smoothie.

nailpolish · 08/02/2007 15:14

is this the one you have goingfor3?

As with most else in life you get what you pay for. I researched it a few years back and you've basically got a choice between something that costs less than 100 quid and needs cleaning with a toothbrush between one carrot and the next and an American super-dooper type juicer that looks like a thing for mincing meat but longer and works by crushing the fruit/veg, you dont have to peel or core or chop hardly, it has a sort of enormous screw inside that is horozontal and keeps everything moving along. sorry one handed typing and 2-cell brain.... not very clear.. google raw food diet and you'll find plenty of info. i bought a cheapo one and havent used it for years...

Yes I do. I have a Oscar Vitalmax and use it pretty much every day. Its very expensive but excellent and almost industrial!

But then I am really into juicing and also do juice fasts every now and then.

It's a great thing to get into. Fresh fruit and vegetable juice is like liquid gold for your health (hehe, you can see I'm into it!). Try ready a book by Jason Vale, The 'JuiceMaster'

thanks RnB

nailpolish, yes the one on ebay is the one I have. It is one of the more expensive ones but it gets more juice out of friut than the cheaper ones so you will need less fruit.

goingfor3 · 08/02/2007 16:41

I just looked at the Oscar Vitalmax and mine is not as fancy as that. It looks very good.

nailpolish · 08/02/2007 18:00
