My dd is 14 months and had an allergic reaction to milk when younger so I breastfed until 8 months and then she out grew it - thank god!

I delayed introducing eggs as I was worried she would react. Everyday its a nightmare feeding her, she eats two - three somtimes one spoon of her breakfast/lunch/dinner - drives me mad. I do my best to notshow my feelings and pretend its no big deal but I just want to make sure the few mouthfuls she is the most nutricious food poss.... i will get to the point.......

I decided to give her egg, last week I hard boiled an egg, mashed the yolk up with milk and gave her a mouthful - she was fine. Today I wanted to try again foe her lunch, should I do the yolk again? Or can I try scrambled egg now and introduce the white. My doctor surgery is now closed until 3pm. I know im probably over the top but is she had a real bad reaction, it would be hard to get her help quick. Because she was fine with the yolk, do you think Im working myself up and I should just try the scrambled egg? I wanted to make sure she is not allergic to eggs before her MMR jab which is another thing I habe been putting off. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mucho gracias!

I'd try just yolk for a while, simply because it's subsequent exposures to the allergen that result in the symptoms. Always have Piriton to hand if you are concerend about allergic reactions.

I'm sure it's one bit or the other of an egg that's most allergic but I can remember if it's yolk or white!

well, get your car ready, changing bag etc, give her scrambled egg and see what happens, if there's something happening go straight to E&A or better still dial 999. the yolk and white have different compositions as far as i know but i thought the vaccine contains the whites so that's the one you want to test. just give her a very small amount really. you could mix a boiled egg with a boiled potato as an idea. as a rule, don't give such a small child more than 1-2 eggs a week (2 is to much in my opinion)

my sil is a paediatrician, when dd was a baby she advised me:
introduce egg yolk after 6m old from a an egg boiled for 10 min (to be throughly cooked). start by giving 1/8 of the egg yolk and gradually increase over 2-3 weeks mixed with vegetable puree

do not give egg whites until 1y old as they are v alergenic (after 1 y as well for strawberries, raspeberries, honey, nuts)

Hello

Thimk ill leave it for today again!!!!

I dont have car!

I have only given her the yolk hard boiled once and it was a small mouthful mixed with milk so I think Ill wait until saturday (my dh will be at home with car) and carry on with hardboiled egg and build up slowly the amount. I know the white is more allergic.

I will also get some of that priton, good advice. Is it like medicine, 5 ml spoon dose?

Thanks

and i did actually followed her advice. at 14 m i would say it's safe to try but be well prepared for reactions. call nhs direct for a professional opinion though?

good idea! good luck! let us know how it went!

I'd say do just the yolk again. An allergic response needs more than one exposure to come out so if you gave white mow you wouldn't know whether it was the yolk or the white that caused the reaction.
Do you have any ant-histamine in the house in case she has a reaction - from whan she had the problem with milk?
Gook luck
