I usually put the raw potatoes in a couple of tablespoons of water then into the microwave for about 4-5 minutes. Then into the hot roasting tin half an hour before serving. When they come out of the microwave and I've drained them I usually run a fork over the surface of the potatoes to give them a rough edge, this helps make them crispy.

I am an expert on roast potatoes and the secret of my success is to never put them in the same pan as the meat, but each to their own.

agree with DG. Works much better in their own dish where there's more room and you can take them out and turn them easily.

probably 50 minutes should do it. Sort of depends on your oven though.

Make sure you parboil them (for say 5 mins) and then fluff the outsides up (I tip them several times between sieve and saucepan roughly to achieve this)
