So far we have

  3. Philadelphia, crab sticks and tons of salad

HeyMacWey · 03/09/2016 23:06

Cucumber, chicken and tzatziki.

Diddlyanna · 03/09/2016 23:20

Tuna mixed with Greek yogurt instead of Mayo with sweetcorn and salad, I like a but of dressing too.
Hummous and falafel with salad
Chicken with salsa and cheese

Blondie1984 · 03/09/2016 23:44

Philadelphia, ham and salad
Mozzarella and tomato

Is he just going to take wraps or do you think he would try other things too?

Lifeisshort123 · 03/09/2016 23:47

What about egg mayo using low fat Mayo?
Tuna with low fat Mayo, low fat cheese spread and cucumber?

mckenzie · 04/09/2016 13:29

Thank you all

Blonde, I thought wraps would be the least carb option.
He will probably be eating it on the go, or sitting on a wall or something probably, so we'd wrap it in foil that he pulls down as he eats.

Other ideas welcome though Smile

While you have not mentioned calories wraps are approx 100 cals more then 2 slices of bread. I ditched the wraps for my lunch for that reason. Those fillings all sound great though

WreckTangled · 04/09/2016 13:51

Wraps are high carb too (doesn't worry me I only say because you mention it being a lower carb option).

I hate packed lunches and always find them a pain.

mckenzie · 04/09/2016 13:52

Thanks canyou.
Off to re check the labels Blush

He is growing I would not worry if he will eat a wrap with healthy filling because he might ditch a sandwich for crisps. I am in Irl the Food safety authority here are reminding parents that carbs are as umportant as fruit veg and protien for a healthy lunch for DC

The calories in wraps depend on the size of wrap and type of wrap you are buying. If you buy the wholemeal old El Paso wraps in the Mexican section (with the cooking sauces, fajita kits etc) they are smaller than the large ones in the bakery department and contain only 117 calories each. That is definitely lower than two slice of bread.
If you are looking for a lower cal alternative to sandwiches then the sandwich thins are only about 100 cal each and can be filled like a roll. I think if he will eat it I'd go for wholemeal wraps etc but then make sure the filling is protein rich and filled with salad.

Another one for falafel here!

Or, some sort of bean mix, Mexican style? Tinned mixed beans, drained, mixed with tomato salsa and some guacamole? Homemade, this would be really healthy. If you buy the corn tortillas (as a pp said normally in world food section) they are much less likely to go soggy.
