13.5 month old won't eat

My daughter has progressively gotten worse with eating, first it was BLW (no choice) and then not off a spoon, and then finger foods only and then now not eating at all.

She is still bf'd but I have a feeling if I cut that out she still wouldn't eat.

How do I help her eat?? Any advice would be appreciated, I would like to give up bfing but daren't down to her getting nutrition no other way.

Thx in advance

has it been a battle from day 1? that might be what's putting her off. does she see you eating? do you eat together? have you tried just putting some food on her tray and leaving her to it? don't even look at her or try to encourage her to eat it. you eat, she gets some of the same, even if she just looks at it.. worth a try?

I have tried everything: sitting in her high chair, not sitting in her high chair, letting her walk around, on my lap, on the coffee table (the food that is), using her own spoon, using my spoon/fork, eating my food, using her own plate.

Nothing is working - and I've never made an issue of it until today when I think I finally cracked and got angry. which is ridiculous.

I am beginning to think it's never going to happen

What exactly is she eating?
When does she eat?
What foods/textures/meals does she have the most problem with?
Is it a problem with all foods? Or foods mixed up, wet foods, pureed foods?

Is there a certain food she will always eat?

Ds was, and still is in many ways a nightmare when it comes to eating. We now have 'come to terms' with it in a way and have a variety of strategies that work for him. Sometimes it still gets me down but mostly we cope now.

so what happens if she's in her highchair with food on her tray? other than her not eating.

crace · 30/01/2007 21:40

She is trying to shove her tray away and get down after pushing the food around a little bit.

Honestly, there isn't one thing apart from a few tiny bites of toast with marmite that she will eat. Nothing.. She's never touched puree either, and has eaten bites off apples and pears in the past, as well as pasta tubes and spaghetti but hasn't touched that in a couple months. I don't think textures are the issue..

Hve you spoken to your HV?

SO in a typical day including bfs what will she have? Is it just bf + a bit of toast with marmite?

IS she losing weight?

CanStarveWillStarve · 30/01/2007 21:46

Is she teething?
Is she permanently full from bf? This was my problem until a couple of weeks ago, but since then I've cut down bfs to 3 a day (she was having 7-9 per day) and she has upped her solids intake significantly. My dd is nearly 12 months.

Are you eating the same thing as her at the same time as her? My dd will only eat if this is the case.

crace · 30/01/2007 21:50

Am seeing HV for her development check and will ask her but yes essentially all she does is bf. I've tried reducing in the past and she just won't eat - or if I've been away she will wait until I get back.

Very frustrating..

How long have you given it with less bfs before deciding that she won't eat and you need to bf again? How many bfs does she have in a normal day?
