DS never keen on a beaker and I've tried many including NuK Tommee Tippee and AVent.
Does anyone know of a beaker that simply is a cup with a plastic spout at the end (no need for sucking)... I know he can't stay with bottles for much longer but he pushes my hand away when the beaker appears. Help much appreciated and bank balance will also be grateful as we are becoming a multi-beakered household! (DS will be 11 months soon)

Have you tried one of these?

mumeroo · 30/01/2007 19:40

nope i haven't but i will do! ta!

he seems to find it difficult to drink from anything that requires sucking. odd i know when the bottle requires that. But will give it a go so ta mumatuks.

Mumeroo, I've used the ones mumatuks linked to and my ds took to it really well - good luck!

mumeroo · 30/01/2007 19:44

and do you use that for milk too?

Am also having beaker issues. DS doesnt like the tommee tipees either. The lid comes off quite easily when thrown to the floor.

funnypeculiar · 30/01/2007 19:49

and yes, mumatuks, that's one of the many cups she'll drink water from

viticella · 30/01/2007 19:51

Our reluctant transition from bottle to cups was made using a Bfree bottle to cup trainer like this for milk drinks.

I used the Tommee Tippee flip up cups for juice but I was given an excellent beaker recently in a goody bag when I joined our local Sure Start group - it's got no brand on. Clear base with two handles. Orange lid (a stiff clip-on one) is a fixed suck-through spout, no valve, that seals with a quarter turn for travelling. Just what I needed at the time, like you. You can probably buy them in boxes of 50, I'm sure someone will know.

Think Boots sell semi-disposable beakers with no valve, toddler groups always seem to have a good supply.

Forgot to say that DS was nearly 12 months before he would hold and drink from a handled cup himself, for some reason he'll only use one hand.

Thinking of selling all the rejected ones on ebay as a "trial pack"

Funnypeculiar, I convinced DS 1 to drink milk from a cup by adding Strawberry quick to it. Then over the next week I reduced the amount of strawberry powder in it until it was just plain milk.

pudding77 · 30/01/2007 20:17

mumatuks, he will drink water from it but having an issue with milk in cups & beakers, ds still not convinced...

Mumatuks · 30/01/2007 20:30

hmm , the one we got DS2 to drink milk from (and trust me, he was difficult to please, he only wanted breast milk!) anyway, the only one was the Nuk one, a small 5oz cup with a soft teat that was shaped like a spout.. hang on and I'll find you a link to a piccie.

Mumatuks · 30/01/2007 20:31

here is the one DS loved, infact we had three of them!

funnypeculiar · 30/01/2007 20:58

aha, mumatuks - this is the one our c/m has and she does drink LOTS of water out of it - have been trying to find one...

And maybe we should try the 'pink milk' idea, cori ... although I'll need to find a way to convince ds that he doesn't need it too
