I'm all for healthy eating amongst children but

I feel uncomfortable at seeing a "x calories per pot" on a children's yoghurt.
The yoghurt is aimed at younger children, and i feel it is wrong to promot calorie counting in young children. Even if they cannot read, older children can, which could cause problems. Or am i just being over sensitive today?

My almost 6 year old hasn't got a clue what a calorie is, so it wouldn't be a huge problem in this house!

I think it's probably only a problem if you let it become one.

i think it is more for the parents than the children really....

Absolutely, lulumama.

And if they ask what a calorie is, having read it on the pot, you don't have to tell them anything about calorie counting or dieting; what they learn at this age comes from you.

If she asked I would tell dd that a calorie is a measurement of energy, it tells you how much energy is in the pot - no need to mention calorie counting at all.

By the time they're old enough to be conscious of that, the children's yoghurts will presumably be a thing of the past.

yep..it is good for children to have an understanding of nutrition..but not in a ggd/bad food way.....a little bit of everything/ moderation way

i was a bit at the sugar content of some children;s yoghurt , tbh!

clear labelling benefits everyone
