dd3 appears to be going the same way as dd1+2 when it comes to sandwiches, ie she doesnt like fillings. I have tried meats, jams, cheese, spreads etc and she pronouces them all yuk, or hands me the meat and cheese then will eat the bread. but she will eat the meat/cheese if its not on the bread lol.

can you make suggestions on different sandwhich fillings till we find one we like (dd1 now likes ham, which makes it easier), dd2 still only has bread and butter.

i wouldnt worry too much about it, if she is happy to eat it that way then let her

I am lazy so would serve them seperately - roll, pitta, bread-and-butter etc then a lump of cheese, slice of ham, hardboiled egg etc. Same food value, no fussing.

Pick your battles.

tuna?
i mix it w/ mayo, mustard and balsamic

toast the sandwiches?

or lay it out like open sandwich and let them pick

like wurly says, it they are eating it, even in bits then its okay...

I agree. I present ds with a "picnic plate" cubes of cheese, carrot sticks, cucumber slices, cold chicken cherry tomatoes bread soldiers etc and he eats 3 times as much as ifI give hima sandwich to spend all his time dismantling then not eating. Dd was the same but now (5) she eats sandwiches fine.

its lovely having the picnic stylle, fill your own sandwiches, and she does enjoy it, but it would be easier to make sandwiches and just go, rather than have little boxes of everything and let her pick what she wants when out (i'm thinking of harefield trips etc etc)

then put it all in a bigger box together and let her pick at it.

misdee · 30/01/2007 14:10

my bag isnt that big lol.

i will serch out a larger box and some smaller tubs at the weekend for her picnic lunches

glad to hear its not just my dd's who dont like filled sandwiches though.

Also agree with picnic plate idea. Ds blatantly refuses any made up sandwiches however if I give him all the bits seperately he will make a sandwich. Also give him wraps/pitta bread as alternative and he likes to fill them
