?????????

dd is 21mths old and now she will hardly eat anything apart from lots of fruit and her cereal in the morning. she will eat her sandwiches at the cm's (most times) but she will very rarely eat bits from her sunday dinner or any cooked meal - she keeps saying it's too hot and will refuse it-even though we've cooled it down.

she used to be a really good eater and ate anything in front of ehr - now what? am getting bit desperate now, tho we'll never force her to eat how can we get her to eat in the first place? tho she looks healthy, am concerned that she hardly seems to eat. is this normal for toddlers and am i overly worried? please help.
tia

Oh thank God!

I am not the only one-dd also 21 mts only wants bananas or cheese or maybe yoghurt, despite loving all veggies till recently.Am throwing SO much food away it is ridiculous.
Always pretty good at breakfast time too though.
Am now taking a hard line and if she doesn't ea her meat and veg then no cheese or bananas-she's pretty chunky so no chance of her fading away.

dont worry about it dd was always a really good eater then went really picky when she was about 2 and some days wouldnt eat anything and they other days you would think i was starving her.

she is 3 now and improved most days she eats so much i wonder where it all goes and all i hear her say is mummy im still hungry - 3 portions of casserole the other day with hers and my cheesecake for dessert then hour later 2 pieces of toast before bed!

yesterday all she ate was beans on toast at bedtime

today she ate cheese sandwich for breakfast for lunch and for tea

who knows what she will eat tomorrow. i have given up getting worked up over it!

I am trying the "I can't worry about it" attitude but when she doesn't eat supper,I dread her waking in the night hungry.

I know she won't waste away-guess I am just a bit veg-obsessed and need to be less so

You need to look at young children's food intake over a week rather than over a day. Usually if you do that you realize that it's quite balanced. 7 bananas one day? Actually that's one a day for a week. 3 portions of casserole? That's 3 dinners. And so on. The really important things to remember is that children don't starve themselves, that they probably need less food than you think they do and that if they are full of energy, happy and active, they're getting enough food from somewhere!

goodness my 21 month old only wants to eat yoghurt and an occasional apple

she will eat banana porridge of a morning but would prefer to live on yoghurt and milk [blsuh]

and although we have a healthy diet and i make all her food from scratch there is no way she gets her 5 portions a day! not one veggie passed her lips today! but she might eat loads of veg another day

so it's just me worrying then? it gets a bit hard when you don't earn much and worry about what to feed her and then she won't even touch it. oh and she has new word too - yack.
