Veggie Bolognese in the slow cooker?

I know you can make normal bolognese in the slow cooker but does it work with veggie mince? Same cooking times?

I don't believe veggie (quorn) mince or other meat substitutes are suitable for slow cookers. They only need a short time to cook and if left for too long start to break down or go a bit rubbery. Hope this helps (I looked into it once and think I saw this on a Google search) Smile

That's kind of what I thought. Darn.
I wonder if it would work to do all the veggies in the slow cooker and add the mince in just for the last hour or something?

Although I googled and have seen some slow cooker recipes using veggie mince

Try red lentils instead. Much nicer than soya mince in a veggie Bolognese.

You can do a lentil and mushroom one in the slow cooker, I prefer it to quorn mince

I'd happily eat that but my 11 year old dsd ( who is the veggie) would not, sadly!

Why not? Just give it a try.

Because she is really fussy with quite a limited diet and virtually cries when presented with something new! (True story Hmm)

In case anyone comes across this thread with a similar question - don't do it! It's not nice Grin

I was going to say not to do it, see that you did, I made the mistake once. Now I do all the veg, sauce etc in slow cooker but just before serving I rehydrate the soya mince in boiling water with either stock cube or marmite and add to sauce. I've also dry fried the Tesco frozen mince until really crispy and added just before serving, both are acceptable.
