Farmer Vs Wild salmon

I used to eat salmon a couple of times a week and especially gave it to the kids not realising that farmed salmon may not be that great! (Something to do with mercury levels, pesticides and illnesses being more wide spread.)

Now I try to get wild but obviously that is quite expensive. Is this being overly cautious? Reading online, the articles were quite old so I don't know if they are relevant today and whether I should still be ok with farmed?

Any opinions appreciated!

It goes: farmed -> organic --> wild. So if you're finding wild a bit steep, go for organic.

I find Wild does taste different. The flesh is different also, I find it firmer which if you think about it that is probably because the farmed is only poodleing about a tank where as a wild fish really has to work hard so its muscles are firmer. I also have seen and read about all the anti biotics but I suppose that is the same for standard chicken.
I normally wait till wild is half price as then it is better value.

You shouldn't really buy either if environment is a concern - particularly Atlantic Salmon. Alaskan Salmon is sustainably fished but obviously if you're in the Uk there are good miles to consider if it bothers you....

But Atlantic wild salmon is seriously depleted and farmed Atlantic salmon is causing horrific damage to local ecosystems

Lidl's frozen wild salmon is quite reasonable.
