My mum has just bought herself a ?320 necklace from Goldsmiths using Tesco club points

This has convinced me that I need to try and get my head around this scheme, which I have never bothered with so far.

So do any of you use said points, and are there any tips or wheezes for getting as many as poss?!?

you sometimes get extra points tokens at tthe check out.
You can get point from lots of different places (can't remember off hand)
You can get points for reusing carrier bags(1 per bag)
You can get 50 points for recycling ink cartridges
Tesco credit card (only if you are good at paying it off though)

I use my vouchers for deals where you get 4X the value.I have just got £100 in days out tokens for £25 in vouchers.

All what nikkie says, plus looking on the floor for recipts with barcodes on if your really desperate, hand them into customer services to get them credited to you card, and offering YOUR clubcard when the customer in front says they dont have one.
Takes brass balls, but my kids get days out I could never otherwise afford...so

Hmmm thank you! So far I have only got online points, so I guess I need to get an actual card if I want to get points for things like re-using carrier bags, no?

I was quite impressed with the Tesco delivery service. I'm trying to get myself organised and I do like on-line shopping!

Online points at moneysavingexpert.com ...check the discount and voucher threads, tesco codes.

Catbabymummy · 28/01/2007 21:00

Always check your receipts - you often get a voucher for extra points if you buy certain things.
Also when you get your clubcard vouchers, again you get vouchers for extra points.
If you have Powergen as your energy supplier, register your clubcard with them and gain a point for every pound you spend.
I never spend my points instore, I save mine for days out, as mentioned earlier.

We are having a villa in Portugal for a week with the ones that we have saved(mind you it took us 2yrs to save for!) We do have to pay for flying so a very cheap and extra holiday for us booked for May half term.

DimpledThighs · 28/01/2007 21:56

I am a points dunce but my friend said never use the points in store., always you for days out, hotels etc as you get much more for your money.

Her and her dh went to london for their anniversary and the hotel was all clubcard points and I know she spends £50 a week on food!

pinkbubble · 28/01/2007 22:01

With club vouchers you get 4x the value if you dont spend them in store but use them as treats- Its really worth saving them up as I said we have a villa in Portugal for a week, A friend (acouple of yrs ago ) went to centre parks. We have also used them to go through the tunnel to France to get our Xmas alcohol. Its really worth thinking about and actually speding time over you shop at Tesco.

themoon66 · 28/01/2007 22:02

We use ours for free trips on Channel Tunnel just before xmas to buy wine etc in France.
Interested in how to get a villa in Portugul though

pinkbubble · 28/01/2007 22:08

DH looked through the booklet that is sent to you and spotted a holiday company that you could use, he asked for a copy of their brochure and then looked on line to see what we could afford- have to say its a 3 bed villa with its own swimming pool. TBH DH travels alot so gets airmiles, Tesco doesnt do flights so what with vouchers for villa, airmiles for flights the only thing we have to pay for is hiring a car! Hopefully a very cheap and cheerful holiday- CANT WAIT!!

pinkbubble · 28/01/2007 22:12

Individulars Travel Company (apparantly) says DH - about getting a villa in Portugal

Katymac · 28/01/2007 22:12

I have got £820 saved up towards my holiday in France this year

I'm going to Siblu (I hope it's OK)

I use my Tesco CC for everything I buy & pay off each month (so no interest)

I get my fianl vouhers in Feb - so I will be able to book then

pinkbubble · 28/01/2007 22:32

We went and visited a siblu site in France on the west side(Atlantic Coast) It looked lovely the pool looked lovely and everything looked clean and child friendly. My only downside was that anyone could join at the pool, the only thing that stopped us was my honesty, you could just walk through so beware anyone not necessarily holiday makers could be using that pool or wandering round the holiday park

Katymac · 28/01/2007 22:33

The atlantic coast os where we are going can you remember the name??

pinkbubble · 28/01/2007 22:39

Not really but have just had a chat with DH and we think its north of La Rochelle may be about 20-25miles- where is it your hoping to go it may jogg some memories( we had had abig row that day and just ended up driving looking for thibgs to do!)[winl]

Katymac · 28/01/2007 22:40

That might be Les Charmettes
or Bois de Dormant or bois de massion

pinkbubble · 28/01/2007 22:47

No doesnt mean anything to me, all I remember is having to drive down a side road and at he end they had like a security gate but before that was a carpark that antone could parkin and we just walked through into holiday site- no questions asked- not sure if its because we were a family so didnt look a threat (not sure) We could easily have pretended to be a holiday maker.(It did look very nice)Trouble is Im Little Miss Honest and couldnt even go to the loo there as I felt if anyone questioned me I wouldnt be able to answer!!!
