...don't know if chum is fussy eater or not, so what is a sure-fire recipe for chicken that most kids will eat?

I sometimes do home-made nuggets, sometimes plain grilled chicken and sometimes pan fry nugget-sized chunks of chicken ; if you dissolve a teaspoon of sugar in the oil as you heat it, you get lovely glazed slightly sweet chicken, which many visitors have liked. But I cooked home-made nuggets for one fussy boy who didn't touch them. Mine loved 'em, though.

KTeePee · 26/01/2007 13:57

I would just grill/bake them (I can get away with sprinkling a little paprika on mine in spite of fussiness!) and serve with plain noodles/pasta/oven chips

get them to make their own chicken nuggets .. always goes down well

cut chicken into chunks

give them a big bowl of cornflakes to crunch up

beat an egg and season

then get them to dip the chicken in the egg and then in the cornflakes then put on a baking tray

(cook at 180 for 15 mins then turn and cook for 5 mins)

don't forget to get them to wash their hands before and after

et voila .. an activity and dinner all in one

Same as Twig - but breadcrumbs with herbs and garlic instead of cornflakes - fry in Olive oil rather than bake

indignatio · 26/01/2007 14:03

Rather than chunks of chicken - divide each breast in 3 and place in food plastic bag (freezer bag type thing) and bash with a rolling pin until flat - cooks very quickly

Twiglett · 26/01/2007 14:06

yes .. I like the breadcrumbs .. but find the kids just love the cornflake crunching .. works with 5 and 6 year olds anyway)

satay-style chicken?
cut into lumps, toss in honey/soya sauce mix thread on a skewer and grill.

(I sometimes add some smooth peanut butter to this mix, but if not sure of allergies, don't do this bit)
