Toddler eating

My lo is 2 year 4 months and is getting to be a real with eating. I don't think that he is eating enough, had stopped him snacking just before meals and drinking too much but hasn't seemed to help.

He also seems a lot smaller than the rest of the children his age.

Probably just being overly concerned, have voiced my opinions to my old HV and new HV but they don't seemed concerned and always say that I am small myself and that he seems well and healthy. Very active child.

Just wanted some advice really, am I just expecting him to eat to much, and I am getting to the point now where I am telling him off for not eating enough, which I dont want to do.

What do other mums give their children in the day to eat at this age ?

He normally eats:

1 bowl of cheerios: which is about 4 tbspoons of cheerios and some milk. Might have a quarter of toast from me afterwards.
Small cup of watered juice.

Snack time: 1/2 an apple, have tried to cut him down as sometimes he wants a whole apple or 2.

Lunch time: 1 piece of cheese on toast, if lucky. Fruit. Drink. 1 biscuit.

Tea time: He does quite well with this. Casserole with meat and veg in it. Normally eats about 5-6 tablespoons of the casserole etc. Fruit for pudding or will eat a small dish of ice cream or ice lolly.

Milk - 5 floz or so so to drink.

Bedtime - beaker of watered down apple juice.

Do you think this is okay or not enough ???

Sounds ok to me, but if you're worried he's not eating enough why are you trying to cut down his morning snack?

I was told that he might be better not having such a big snack in the morning at about 9.30am and therefore he would eat a better and bigger lunch.

Do you think that I should give him more to eat during morning snack time then and not worry if he has a funny lunchtime.

Coudln't eat a whole one myself.

Must admit I'd try giving him the cheese on toast at morning snack time then not worry if he doesn't eat much at 'lunch'.

Eventually you could work it backwards so the toast becomes part of breakfast, if you like.
