"Fur" icing

What is everyone's preferred method? I've used dyed desiccated coconut before but don't fancy doing that again.

Going to attempt a Gruffalo for DD's birthday and I'm wondering how to make the fur realistic.

Photographic inspiration welcome!

Chocolate butter cream spiked up with a fork?

StepfauxWife · 15/06/2016 21:19

Hmm I did think about doing that but wanted something a bit more furry.

Perhaps I need to fork out for a furry nozzle or something.

I have an icing nozzle I use for grass, it's lots of tiny holes. Might make good fit too??

This blog has various methods

this nozzle is what I would use

You need a grass nozzle a couole of hours and arms like popeye. It's worth it though!

Ooh yes that's perfect! I will get one of those nozzles and enlist the help of someone stronger than me.

Thanks Mumsnetters!

Yes, grass nozzle, strong arms and buckets of icing. Did a katsuma cake (moshi monsters) a couple of years ago, worked well.
