feeding a toddler

never give a toddler spagetti AFTER a bath.
Forks and spoons are not eating utensils but projectiles in a food war.
Its much easier to give a toddler half your dinner whilst you are eating it.
Weet bix makes lovley patterns on the floor after being dropped.
youghurt can be drunk from a thick straw.

Any other lessons learnt?

bribery is brilliant - 'if you eat one spoonful of tikka masala you can have some popadum!!' works a treat!

One day a toddler will eat three weetabix for breakfast and the next day barely touch one.

Ditto delicous home made baby food - I'll make a recipe once and he'll polish it off - the next time he won't touch it.

Food that is on your plate is much more interesting that whatever is in his bowl - even if he doesn;t actually like it.

If you teach him about "hot" anything that is above room temperature will be blown on and "ouch hot"......

weetabix sets like concrete and getting it off, once its dried will involve the contents of the tool box.

Oatibix is worse.

Dd2 loves other people's dinners - so much more interesting than hers, even when they are identical....

My son who is almost 2 and a half used to eat really well. now he seems to survive on botttles of milk, yogurt, fruit and custard with maybe a few biscuits/bread sticks - any advice to encourage him to eat mroe and a wider range of foods?

Thanks Eleanor
