What things do you like?
Why aren't you going out if you're child free?
What' a DF - friend?

Twiglett · 14/01/2007 17:41

Personally I'd do 2 not 3 courses .. so main course and pudding .. I always think starters are a little OTT nowadays

so meat-eaters? what's your favourite meat? what kind of foods do you like?

blossomhill · 14/01/2007 17:42

Personally I would go for traditional

So prawn cocktail for starters
Steak and chips
Profiteroles

Yum I am so hungryyyyyyy

mancmum · 14/01/2007 17:46

toberlone fondue for dessert -- dip in strwberries ... or spread on each other if it all goes well!!

kittylette · 14/01/2007 18:42

i dont really like meat, only chicken

my DF is my dear fiancee

and were not going out because we dont like to

AND to make it even more complicated im on a diet. but may bend the rules for one night

Chicken breasts marinated in olive oil, lemon juice and garlic, very easy. Then wrap them in proscuitto or bacon and put in oven for 20 mins. Serve with whatever you like.

Pudding, Nigella's slut red raspberries in Chardonnay jelly it's on this thread

one of my favourite starters is honeydew melon with a couple of slices of crispy smoky bacon on top and some homemade vinaigrette, most of which can be done in advance or at least in 2 mins at starter time. Nice and light and doesn't make you too full for pud!

Main course, how about cooking up a chilli in advance then serving in flour tortillas with guacamole, creme fraiche and grated cheese. You serve a pot of chilli on the table with the rest in serving pots and build your own wraps. Very tactile and v easy and you're not presented with a huge plate of food, instead you graze as you want to so the food can go at a much more leisurely pace.

Pud - liking the toblerone idea!! (making mental note ) or chocolate brownies with good quality ice cream (can make own brownies, or use packet mix which come out just as good and noone will know, or buy some at sainsbury's then warm in oven, easy peasy!), or cheese and bickies with some nice unusual cheese and some different chutneys and onion marmalady type things, or eton mess: buy meringue nests and break into chunky pieces about the size of 10p pieces plus all the meringue dust which breaking them will make, or make your own if you have time and inclination and can make them crunchy and not gooey (I can't!). Mix with whipped cream, strawberries and a good armful of liqueur - traditionally kirsch but anything you like will do, if it's fruity even better. Serve in a big splat in a glass. drool

I like smoked salmon and strawberries for a starter. Delicious but not filling.

Greensleeves · 14/01/2007 19:09

Oh, you don't like fish
