Finger Food suggestions for a 6 month old!

My 6 month DD has just started teething and I was wondering what finger foods would be good to give her to 'munch' on.
Am a little concerned about giving cheese fingers because of the salt content used in the manufacture of it. Am I being a little too cautious?

Have you tried rice cakes? Both of mine seemed to like the texture and find them easy to hold. Pieces of toast?

I worried about salt with dd but ds got whatever I had to hand. He has eaten cheese since about 6 1/2 months.

we're giving dd 97mths) rusks...they are very easy to eat, turn to sloppy goo in mouth, very little danger of choking on big bit as soooo goooy (also very messy). you can get reduced sugar ones by Kallo (from health shop, and possibly sainsburys?). a lot of the mainstream brands have huge amounts of sugar.

bread sticks are great, also rice cakes, toast, and i also found slices of banana went down well

ds(11m)eats rice cakes (loves the marmitey ones although theyve probably got too much salt), bread sticks (likes to dip them into whatever goo we have on the go too), bread, celery sticks (great straight from the fridge for teething), cucumber, sliced apple, dried apricots, raisins, pasta, filled pasta, cheese (sometimes), broad beans... whatevers around really.

half a rich tea (cheaper than cow & gate biscuits, but the same). Cucumber skinned and julienned. Same for carrots, but thin as they are a bit hard.

Cheerios

Have you tried ried apple rings, my ds loves them.
He sits sucking them for ages, and really smiles when you pass one to him. He also really loves toat fingers, he eats bread and butter fingers too fast!
I also use bits of cooked pasta, basically everything that I am about to chop up for him, I leave a couple of pieces and give that as finger food.

Both my DSs loved well cooked baby sweetcorn. Rich tea fingers or Garibaldi biscuits also go down well, and toasted pita or naan bread cut into strips is a great success, particularly as naan bread comes in all sorts of flavours.

I used to make my own cheesy bread stick things - very very easy: spread some bread with marmite, grate a v. thin layer of cheese over it, cut into fingers and stick in a very low oven. I can't remember how long they take to crisp: at least an hour, possibly more. They'll keep forver in something airtight and my two loved them.

I kept bags of frozen mixed veg in so I could cook a handful when needed (GF tip). Ds liked the different colours and textures, and liked picking up small things by himself! Red kidney beans are still a big hit, probably because they look so exciting. Sainsburys do tins of organic kidney beans in unsalted, unsugared water.
Also, bread sticks, rice cakes, cooked pasta, toast, pieces of fruit, anything to hand really. When he was teething or a bit under the weather I would give him refrigerated, grated pear which he seemed to find comforting. Have fun!
