Our Lido cafe serves pot noodles, fizzy drinks and mars bars and not much else. I feel a letter coming on.

Ok, suggestions please. There is a fab 1930s outdoor swimming pool close to where I live. It is closed now, but in the summer it is popular with a very mixed bunch of people - both sun-worshipping single thirtysomethings and local families. (It is run down but I hear money will be invested in it soon). time.

I spent a lot of relaxing afternoons there last summer. It is one of my favourite places. The cafe, however, is a disgrace. The menu consists of sweets, fizzy drinks and pot noodles. No sandwiches or anything you could vaguely consider as proper food. So if you don't bring a picnic you are stuffed. And if you are there for a few hours, swimming and being out in the fresh air, you eat your picnic and get hungry again - as do your children.

Surely it wouldn't take much to change the cafe menu? It is a basic cafe admittedly - but there is power (a couple of of refridgerated units) and water (a hot water urn for adding to the pot noodles), No kitchen facilities though.

So, when I write my letter of complaint, what menu suggestions could I add?

There is a similar one near to us which has had money spent on it and still serves crap food only!

It is very frustrating, isn't it?. You go to the pool to have a healthy afternoon and you end up eating rubbish!

The company that runs the pool (affiliated to the local council) also runs the other pools and leisure centres in the borough. I have been to most of them. In recent years the onsite cafes have reformed their 'chips with everything' menus to include healthier options. And none serve pot noodles!

I think one problem is the fact that attendance varies a lot depending on the weather. But surely the lido cafe could offer wrapped flapjacks and bottled milk shakes and juices - they don't need refrigerating and have a long-ish shelf life.

Any other menu suggestions before I write my letter?
