dd's have a new favourite dish of tinned crab and noodles with a mixed salad with spring onions etc

we also have a lot of baked potatoes with just about anything and everything - this week i have some left over chilli which we are having with baked pots

i made a giant pot of lentil soup which will do almost every days lunch

also tesco had 2 for 1 puff pastry so i may make some volauvents with tuna etc for lunches for dds

or a cheese puff as they call it - just pasty and grated cheese basically, and i dollop tomato chutney on top for the dd's

can't remember what else .. am sure there is one other thing to get us to friday.... although dh is out tonight so I'll just get something quick and easy but I hadn 't accounted for that when planning so there must be one other meal.... hmmm....

Wheelybug · 08/01/2007 16:27

DS has school dinners, DD eats lunch and tea at nursery, but then has another small portion at home. Tonight we are having some chicken and veg soup that I made last night with baguette (got those part baked ones) probably followed by Christmas cake. Tomorrow we will be having chickpea curry out of the freezer with rice and chapattis. Today for lunch at work I am having a lovely couscous dish that my neighbour made but she and her DH don't like it because it has black olives in plus carrot/clementie/apple and a mince pie! DH is having cheese sandwiches as per. Then I will be going shopping tomorrow and for the Fri-Thurs week we will have:

Breakfasts - cereals - porridge, Asda Starting Right, bran flakes, ready break, weetabix all with optional raisins and juice

Weekend lunches (Fri-Mon):
Scrambled eggs on toast
Jacket pots with beans
Chicken & veg soup w crusty bread
Leftovers
Weekday lunches:
DH cheese sandwiches
Me Soup, greekish salad (ie got some left over feta cheese)

Dinners:
Homemade beanburgers in buns with h/made tomato relish and salad/sweetcorn
Jamie's chicken tikka masala with rice/chapattis/rayita (DS love rayita)
Both kids at party at teatime on Sunday so DH and I will have mac cheese with bacon and leeks
Pork chops with apple mash and veg
Tues-Thurs - freezer meals
turkey meatloaf with wedges and veg
spag bol
shepherd's pie and veg

Enid it amazes me that you cook two different meals every day.

bozza -- how do you make the turkey meatloaf?
what do you think of jamies chicken tikka masala do you follow recipe exact x

Bozza · 10/01/2007 09:36

Turkey meatloaf is very easy and cheap.

Basically mix all the following together in a large bowl:
1lb turkey mince
1/4 lb sausage meat
thyme or other mixed herbs
1 stick of celery chopped small
1 chopped onion
1 beaten egg
3 oz (I think) breadcrumbs (I use oats though because I am too lazy to grate breadcrumbs and don't have a food processor)

Tip it out onto a greased baking tray and shape into a loaf. Cook for 45 mins. Mix together 1tsp of ketchup an 1tsp of mayo and brush onto the loaf. Cook for 15 mins.

Jamie's chicken tikka masala I have pretty much followed the exact recipe but gone easy on the spices because DD does not like things too heavily spiced. But this time I am wondering if I can get away with leaving the cream out, maybe by adding extra yoghurt.

lizziemun · 10/01/2007 09:39

Monday - Cold pork, pasta and a quick tomatoe sauce (tinned tom, onion, tom puree & herbs)

Tuesday - Chicken Wraps (chicken, leek, pepper, courgette with ginger, chilli and chinese spices)

Wednesday - beef stew (leftover from freezer)

Thursday - Fish and chips.

Friday - Egg Fried rice

Saturday - Steak bagettes

Sunday - Roast chicken (bought when on offer)

This week i have spent £18.00 as i have only needed to buy,

Bread x 2
Eggs
Chicken Breast for wraps
Eggs
Juice
Walker crisps

Milk delivered 10 pints a week £5.10

This is for me, dh and dd (3years). I normaly spend about £30.00 a week.

elclose · 10/01/2007 16:21
