A good fruity flapjack recipe?

I normally use an old Cranks one, but it can be too brittle. The DCs love the ones with condensed milk but it's very sweet.
Any winners out there?

I do the condensed milk one with less sugar

100g butter
50g each sugar and golden syrup
200 g oats
50g+ additions - prunes, raisins, sultanas, apricots, cherries, crystallised ginger all good. A very generous 50g is fine, curt larger fruit nto smaller pieces or portioning can be tricky.

Melt butter, sugar and syrup, add oats and additions.

Bake c. 15 mins at 180 degrees until lightly browned (I find I cook it less and less). Press down with the back of a fork, or even a spoon, when it is out of the oven to increase density and 'sticking togetherness'. Turn out and cut when almost cold.

I make these (originally a food tech recipe from DS) every week to give a steady supply of lunchbox / pre-dancing snacks.

I most often do a 'muesli mix' version which has raisins + dried apricots + prunes. I have never tried dried apple, though i suspect that might work well too.

(Oh, and the mixed pineapple / papaya chunks you can sometimes buy are DELICIOUS but very sweet)

Wonderful, thanks so much. I'll go with the pre-dancing snacks. I presume you mean 50g of any of those fruits teacher? I have some sour cherries that might be good.

Yes, generous 50g of those would be fine. An 18cm square tin is the perfect size.

I'm making teacher's recipe as we speak, with the addition of apricots, sunflower seeds and linseeds. Will report back!

My husband brought me some flapjack in hospital (after recent c-section) that he and our toddler had made for me - it was insanely delicious but had about a kilo of sugar and twice that of butter, so it was no bloody wonder. And it was topped with Dairy Milk.

Hope that it turns out well! I have my fingers crossed...never tried it with seeds, but sounds really tasty.

Reporting back. Dried apricot & sour cherry, really good.
My oven runs hot so they were golden in 12 mins.
Now I've eaten one I feel I should go dancing

Also reporting back - I amended slightly and they are delicious!!:

220g oats
115 g butter
30g brown sugar
65g syrup
Approx 65g chopped apricots, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, poppy seeds and linseed

I did them in a 23cm tin at about 170 in a fab oven for approx 17 mins. I think a 20cm tin would be perfect for the above amounts.
