1 yes
2 a mix of strong cheddar and the kind of waxy mozzarella that comes in a rectangular block or ready shredded

awwwwwwwwww.......battle of the chefs, I bow down to carmenere's quck keyboard fingering ( although in my defence Most Haunted is on tv plus ds1 is up with night terrors)

Yes. you can assemble the whole thing in advance, I actually find it tastes much nicer if I make the mince the day before and keep in the fridge.

I always put mozzarella on the top of mine.

1)I find it best to do the bolognese sauce when ever suits but make up the layers and do the cheese sauce when I want to cook it (approx 35-40 mins before serving).

  1. Cheddar in the sauce. (And save a handful to spread on the top about 10 mins before cooking time is up to get a crispy layer)

And of course it is the beginning of the day here How are you doing today SW, is it NYE there yet?

sunnywong · 30/12/2006 12:49

Carm - no, it's nearly 10pm, just a couple of hours to go
(I have discovered a brand new Woolworths' food store 6ks away and it is the first time in 2.5 years I haven't wanted to poke my eyes out while doing the grocery shop - I know you will appreciate this more than anyone else, possibly in the world)

I bloody love lasagne - I usually make a huge one with lots of cheese and a 12 hour cooked ragu for my xmas dinner.

Enjoy it

Yes to preparing ahead but look out for the ready-grated cheese someone suggested. I used it once on lasagne and it's coated in something to stop it sticking together in the bag so just had lots of frazzled lumps on top of my lovelt lasagne. NIce!
