Am making a chocolate torte type thing which requires liquid glucose. Of course I don't have any and i don't know if i can use anything else instead. I think it prevents sugar from cyrstlising.???

any ideas?

I've got some in my cupboard, you can get it from supermarkets. I've never used it but it must have been bought for a recipe long ago. It's a clear very thick liquid. No idea whether you could substitute anythinmg, sorry.

You could substitute corn syrup according to this but that's not exactly a common cupboard ingredient either is it? it isn't in my house anyway!

My mum says you can buy it in chemists too.

corn syrup is close to golden syrup so I guess that might be worth a bash - otherwise as cece says Boots etc often have it.

got mine from chemists so if you decide it is vital at least you do not have to brave the supermarkets.

I think you might b fine without it - how much are you supposed to add?

5 tablespoons - so i watered down some icing sugar instead....ooops! oh well. Proof will be in the pudding i guess!

I can remember trying to get it from the chemist the year it was on Delia's program for her chocolate cake...completely sold out...
