Have i ordered a big enough joint for my boxing day buffet?

i am doing a boxing day buffet for approx 14 people. It's going to be centred around cold cuts the two 'centrepieces' of which will be a roast ham (nigella's coca cola one of course) and a roast beef. I have ordered from the butcher a 2kg piece of each - is that gonna be enough? There will also be salamis, smoked salmon and various salad things and small roast potatos. I am new the this buffet thing and feel OK about making everything but the quantities are a bit baffling. Personally i tend to stuff myself whenever in sight of a buffet but i know not everyone is like that . Any advice gratefully received as always.

i think it will be plenty once it is carved, and you have plenty of other things to go with it, dont worry it will be fine.

am i the only one who saw the title and thought "in laws may be bad but there is no excuse to get stonned"

No

And in fact I thought 'you can never have a big enough joint to survive Boxing Day with the relatives, speaking as someone who's driving to Northampton to have lunch in a restaurant with DP's aged rellies and two small kids...

my first thought was "spliff for 20", should be plenty

then I went into hysterical laughter

think xmas is getting to me now

SantasFattymumma it did occur to me to clarify with an appropriately placed (of meat) in the title but then i decided that would just encourage flippancy in response to my most grave of questions

believe me the thought of floating through Boxing Day with the aide of a ginormous spliff is most appealing, but won't happen. Instead i will settle for several bottles of cava and hope my hand remains steady enough to slice that meat THINLY!

otherwise get a bigger joint of meat then you can have it the following day in sandwiches.

Buy a meat slicer from argos, then you cut meat thinly and it will go further.
