Does turkey keep for longer once it's cooked?

My turkey had a use by date of 26 December. I cooked it today and put the leftovers in the fridge as soon as they had cooled. Will they be ok to eat (cold) on the 27th? I can't freeze them as there's no room in my tiny freezer.

I wouldn't personally it doesn't keep any longer.

Yes, once it has been cooked it will be ok for several days afterwards if kept in the fridge

Phew, glad I don't have to waste it as there's no way we can eat it tomorrow.

Thank you!

Oh wow I didn't know that is that the same for all meat please?

This is amazing, no wonder we throw away so much food. Yes, it resets once you've cooked it. It will keep for several days in the fridge, you can freeze it if you need it for longer. Use by dates were the biggest coup the food industry ever foisted upon us.

I think the idea is cooking it kills any bacteria that are causing it to decompose so should be ok for a few days afterwards.

And yes it works for any meat, not a magical property of turkey Wink

Turkey leftover and trimmings can be kept for a few days.

Roast potatoes only 2 days max really.

Here's a lift of what and how long everything can be frozen and fridged for. I found it really useful! www.onbuy.com/gb/blog/top-tips-to-save-your-food-and-your-stomach-this-christmas~a7/
