We have 8 people round for Christmas this year, 2 are in their 90s and barely eat anything so can be counted as 1 really. We're making the below will this be enough?
Butternut squash & sweet potato soup with some chopped up bloomer bread
1kg turkey breastfeeding joint cooked in orange juice
1kg roast beef
1 kg gammon cooked in cola and roasted with treacle glaze
Pigs in blankets
2 kinds of potatoes
Sprouts
Carrotts
Parsnips
Chocolate cheese cake for dessert

Is this enough meat and would you be happy with this choice?

I think that's a lot of meat with not much veg. I am feeding 7 adults and 3 children and am cooking-
No starter
Turkey (it says feeds 10/12)
Roast potatoes
Mash
Roast Parsnips
Sprouts
Broccoli
Peas
Roast carrots
(Possibly cauliflower but haven't decided)
Pigs in blankets
Yorkshire puddings

Cheese cake and apple crumble for pudding.

We will be have cold meets etc for our supper.

Id definetly offer more veg than listed, and we have ten for lunch and only ever one meat so Id be cock a hoop at that meat selection!

Id add in cauliflower and brocoli, stuffing and yorkshires.

PotteringAlong · 21/12/2015 18:30

I agree, more veg and less meat. For 9 (1 veggie, 2 children) I'm doing:

Pate

Turkey
Mushroom and Stilton Wellington
Pigs in blankets
Roast pots
Mash pots
Sprouts
Red cabbage
Roast Carrots and parsnips
Cauliflower

Christmas pudding
Eton mess

Cheese and Christmas cake

Buttercup27 · 21/12/2015 18:31

Thanks for that poltergoose almost forgot to put stuffing on my shopping list! Phew there would have been a riot on Christmas day with ought stuffing and apple sauce , but we're odd like that

Whyisitalwaysblue · 21/12/2015 18:40

I have 10 for Christmas lunch (although two are my kids and they don't eat much!!)
I'm doing
Turkey crown
Beef joint
Yorkshires
Piggies in their blankets
Roast potatoes
Mash potatoes
Carrot and swede
Roast carrots
Roast parsnips
Sprouts
Broccoli

Followed by a selection of deserts (frozen!!)
Then a cheese board

Kaytee1987 · 21/12/2015 18:42

Oops forgot stuffing! I think I will add the cauliflower with a cheese sauce, maybe sweet corn too because I love it.

Haha my autocorrect has a mind of its own! Had to change 4 words just typing this!

I think it sounds good - more variety is not always better!

ALemonyPea · 21/12/2015 20:42

Setting the standard for next years Christmas, breastfeeding a turkey. Only on MN Grin

What about a cheeseboard for those who don't want something sweet for afterwards?

Behooven · 21/12/2015 20:46

Creamy leek sounds delish, got a tried and tested recipe?

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 21/12/2015 20:57

Behooven · 21/12/2015 20:58
