Leftover bakewell topping - what to make without using pastry?

Have made a batch of mince pies and rather than making lids I always add a bakewell topping. There is too much topping and I don't want to throw it out but don't want to make any more mince pies as I am out of pastry and have never made the real thing and don't really want to start now.

Any ideas? TIA

Why not try baking on its own - should just come out as a soft almond biscuit. Or freeze and use for future pies.

Should cook like an almondy cake. I'd just put in a cake tin or fairy cop cake cases, and maybe serve with jam?

put it as a topping on some fruit - like a crumble

Make a cornflake base, some jam and top with bakewell loveliness.

Core apples and stuff them with it, then bake. If you've got leftover mincemeat you could even add a spoonful of mincemeat first, then top with the almondy mix.

Thanks for all the ideas ladies - going to go with the apples one - sounds yummy! Will try some of the others too at some point I expect. Xmas Smile
