Thinking of making NEXT YEAR's Christmas pud now - am I mad?

Apparently Fanny Craddock recommended making Christmas pud in January. Next Christmas I will have a new baby and don't know if I will have time or energy to make Christmas puds. So I'm thinking of doing it now while I'm feeling Chistmassy and enjoying a hormonal surge of domesticity. But how can you be sure it won't go mouldy, and does keeping it so long improve the flavour?

as long as it is well wrapped then it will be find for next year, my mum always has plenty left over, she normally makes them in septmber/october and we have been known to have them the following year as well if it is a big batch. Wrap them in clean baking parchment then in 2 seperate layers of foil and they should keep fine.

Gemmasmummy, step away from the recipe books, step away slowly....

Are you mad! Cook and bake all you can when you can enjoy it, but if not, buy in next year!

And the alcohol helps preserve it too, I suppose! Thanks for the advice, I will stock up on suet and dried fruit!
