Lamb mince

I've got some lamb mince in the freezer and fancy doing something a bit different with it. So not moussaka or shepherds pie.

Something a bit spicy or herby....

Any idea?

keema biryani
kebabs (those ones with the spicy meatballs on whose name escapes me).
I make a fair haggis substitute with minced lamb, oats, cumin and lots of black pepper to stuff peppers with.

or home made burgers with lots of garlic and rosemary in.

samosa pie?

BBQueen · 05/11/2015 16:51

BBC Good Food's chilli Marrakech is good and quite simple to make.

LifeIsChaos · 05/11/2015 16:51

Patassio is nice. Similar to moussaka but with pasta.

Do you mean koftas momb?

Really good with pittas and olives and yoghurt YUM

TaurielTest · 05/11/2015 16:52

DP makes a quasi-Italian pasta sauce that we just call "lamby pasta" - you cook the mince with tomatoes, onions, garlic, oregano (bolognese style) but also add chopped peppers and courgettes - my DCs are pretty poor vegetable eaters but they like this a lot. Usually serve with pasta shells as they pick up lots of the sauce, parmesan on top.

Jafri's Lamb Koftas . As a main course this is a firm family favourite.

Or a Keema Matar, I think I use MJ's recipe but I haven't looked at the actual recipe in ages.

goodfood.uktv.co.uk/recipe/delicious-cocktail-koftas/ That link should work, sorry.

That was quick! They all sound great (except maybe the haggis substitute...I like haggis but...)

The Chilli Marrakech looks good and I've got all the stuff though will need to scale down...

Maybe just koftas though with pitta and salad.

Lamb mince is for fake away here.

mamalovebird · 05/11/2015 17:41

I do a one pot curry with lamb mince.

Jar of aldi madras curry sauce (with spice pot)
new potatoes
lentils
chicken stock (around a pint)
peas

Fry off lamb mince, drain fat then add in the spices that come in a little pot attached to the jar. Stir through.
add potatoes/lentils/sauce from jar.
Add enough stock to absorb into lentils.
simmer for 20-30 mins (or until potatoes have cooked)
Add peas at the end.

I serve with soured cream/natural yogurt & poppadums.

Ooh, keema curry is gorgeous. I use this thismuslimgirlbakes.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/lamb-mince-curry.html?m=1 recipe, but instead of potatoes and peas I substitute savoy cabbage (you could pretty much use any veg you wanted) and top with crumbled hard boiled egg. Delicious!

ChampagneTastes · 06/11/2015 21:58

I make lamb kebabs too. Tonnes of garlic, cumin, lemon - mould the mince around the skewers and let them sit in the fridge for as long as possible before griddling them.

AshleyWilkes · 06/11/2015 23:13

Bobotie (African dish)
Quite possibly the most delicious recipe ever, if you make it right;

MrsBertMacklin · 06/11/2015 23:15

Leon meatballs, they're one of my favourite things to eat, ever.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 06/11/2015 23:18

I made a FakeAway in the slow cooker, served it with pittas, salad and cous cous! ..they all loved it

Also have done teeny little meatballs....went a bit coriander, cinnamon, chili, harissa with the seasoning
