I'm looking for something easy that can be cooked in oven and has a thick gravy but not bland, anyone have any nice recipes?.....oh and I don't mind if it contains BISTO Grin

I use braising steak, onion, carrots and any other veg you like. Put a small bottle of red wine in and top up with water. Some herbs, pepper and a splash of Worcester sauce. Cover and cook on 150°c for 3 hours. Add gravy granules after 2½ hours

I do similar to hippo but instead of topping with water top with beef stock - and coat the braising steak with seasoned flour and brown before cooking (unless I'm doing it in the slow cooker, then I hung it all in)

When u say top up with water/stock how much do u mean? Just to cover the meat n veg?

Depends how much gravy you like. I like loads so I just cover my casserole. If my mum cooks it she has about ½cm of meat/veg showing out of the water

Thank you, how much gravy granules do you use? I like my gravy thick

Diced beef, onions, carrots, turnip

Brown the beef and the onions then add the other veg

Add a really concentrated stock, about half a litre with three oxo cubes

Slow cooker for about three hours

Yum!

Easiest stew ever:
500g stewing steak (or if poss skirt or shin)
2 onions chopped
Button mushrooms
1 can Campbell's condensed celery soup (+ 1 can water)

Put everything in a casserole dish with a lid. Cook on 160 for 2 hours.

You can do dumplings if you like. Serve with jacket spud and veg.

Yum!
