Help! Recipes for 9 - 12 month old!!

Hi Everybody. Hope Mums and babies are well

I have the Annabel Karmel 'Feeding your baby and toddler' cookbook and as my DS is coming up to 9 months, I'm looking at varying his recipes.

However, there does not seem to be a great deal of them in the book and those that are there are mainly chicken dishes (DS loves chicken but a little variation would be good!).

Any recipes (even if they were discovered by trial and error) would be great.

Ones for desserts and savouries are very welcome.

By the way, DS has only just begun to get his bottom two teeth, so now finger foods yet please.

Tx

Monnie

Monnie - I mentioned this on another thread but, unless you eat incredibly unusual food yourself, I would give a 9 month old more or less the same as you eat - we have done this since our DS was about 8 months. Just obviously mush it up a bit first.

Sobernow how do you make the lentil and spinach dahl - sounds nice and really nutritous - especially for vegetarians. Thanks

Thanks everyone

I must admit, I didn't know that babies could have basically what we can have at 9 months.

Does that go for desserts as well?

Also, when did you first give your babies things like scrambled eggs or fresh orange juice?

Questions, questions, questions.....

Monnie - I tried scrambled eggs when my DS was about 10 months - but he doesn't really like them, keep trying every couple of weeks but not really his thing. Eggs need to be well cooked for babies (stating the obvious, I know).

Fresh orange juice needs to be diluted with water, 25/75 (Note - nutritional advice is to try to stick to either water or milk - whole fruits - pureed for babiles - being better than juices).

Desserts - it depends what sort you have, I wouldn't recommend a creme brulee or a really boozy trifle but a little apple sponge or rice pudding, something like that is OK - however (sorry if this sounds preachy) I try to avoid too many desserts & stick to yogurt/fromage frais or fresh fruit. Don't be conned into buying those expensive 'baby' yogurts, they are very expensive for what you get. I buy large pots of 'onken' yogurt, the vanilla one is nice & you can add your own pureed fruit.

Lindy,

Try mixing scrambled egg with a plosh of ketchup (as long as sugar is ok) my two love it!
