Forget healthy/fruit desserts.

What do you give your kiddies for pudding as a treat. All I can ever think of is ice cream and jelly - any other ideas!!!!!

Bright blue slush with multi-coloured jumbo glace cherries in it and a sprinkling of lime green sherbet.

Washed down with a brain licker.

baked apples
pies! reall quick to make if ou just bung the fruit in a dish and top with bought pastry (tho only takes 10min to make short crust anyway)
nce hot stewed fruits and ice cream (mmm plums)

Have a bit of a baking day, things like brownies and cookies freeze really well then serve when required with yoghurt, ice cream, cream...whatever you want.

Pancakes! Put those with anything

I now realise that actually most of my favorite treat puddings are fruity......

No. "Forget healthy/fruit desserts.". That's funny. Har de har.

opinionsrus · 30/11/2006 17:04

Har de ha.

Eats healthily for the rest of the day - not that I need to justify this to you so why not an unhealthy pudding?

Did you know that in some countries some kids don't eat for days.

What on earth does that have to do with anything? Totally irrelevant.

It was the actively excluding anything that might be considered healthy/contain fruit that made me post. As though it's more of a "treat" in direct proportion to the number of toxins/empty calories it contains. Bizarre attitude.

Maybe you should join a thread where someone WANTS your opinion.

Normally dd has fromage frais or raisens as an after dinner treat (if she wants one after eating all her dinner).

But as for the unhealthy options...

If I can be bothered to bake then Fairy cakes. If I feel in the mood then home made cocolate covered rice crispies/cornflakes (both things are also fun to make with dd)....I dont do this a lot though as there is often something unhealthy that 'some family member' has bought for her sitting in the cupboard untouched, waiting for such an occation.

Personally I don't see anything wrong in an unhealthy pudd. Everything in moderation is my moto. Besides it never did me any harm as a child.

BTW it is the nigella fairy cake reciepe taken from MN reciepe topic and is soooooooooo easy to do.

mine like treacle sponge and custard/ice cream/cream

bubblez · 30/11/2006 17:37

OH god @ my poor spelling etc.

Kelly1978GotRunOverByAReindeer · 30/11/2006 17:40

rhubarb crumble
cranberry and white choc/ double choc/lemon muffins
cookies
carrot cake
fruit jelly + condensed milk
rice pudding
trifle

I'm guessing you didn't literally mean exclude fruit altogether but an alternative to fruit or yoghurts for desserts.

comebacksummer · 30/11/2006 17:46

bananas and custard

comebacksummer · 30/11/2006 17:47

oh bugger, bananas are fruit aren't they...sigh ok just custard

RubberDuck · 30/11/2006 17:48

I'll make a big rice pudding, an apple turnover or a banana cake or something that will last for puddings over several days, then rely on yoghurts or fruit when I forget to make a pud

RubberDuck · 30/11/2006 17:49

Oh, pink fluff is also a favourite:

jelly, evap milk, can of raspberries (crushed and strained in this house to remove the pips and fool the dses into thinking there's no actual fruit in there).

opinionsrus · 30/11/2006 18:28

OMG thats great everyone - many thanks for all your tips and ideas x

DimpledThighs · 30/11/2006 18:30

if I make puddings I eat them and then can't get my bum out the front door.

So pudding in my house is:

yoghurt
fruit
hot chocolate
rare but sometimes a pancake if first course has just been soup
cake if they have been cooking

Tortington · 30/11/2006 18:31

more? you ask for more?

katelyle · 30/11/2006 19:26

Jam roly poly and custard!
