"nibbly bits" ideas needed for a no fuss buffet please

We had been planning a bbq for tomorrow however due to the potential downpours we have had a rethink.

We still have a few friends coming over with their dc's and have decided to do a simple help yourself buffet instead which we can dip into as and when we please.

I am not a natural host. Or cook! So looking for ideas on what makes a nice "spread" for a small informal gathering, thanks

cold pizza
chicken wings (buy ready cooked)
fruit platter always goes down surprisingly well at my DC's parties

A big dish of new potatoes or jacket spuds.
Green salad
Tomato salad
Homemade coleslaw
BBQ chicken drumsticks ( lots of recipes online and simple/cheap to make
Grilled mackerel or Salmon
A few cheeses and crusty bread
Platter of fresh fruit (cut up)
Crisps, olives.

Keep it simple and enjoy

I usually find help yourself buffets quite time consuming to prepare (even the simplest of spreads) but easy for serving/clearing up etc (esp if you use disposable plates etc)

Think a few well chosen dishes that go together well are better than loads of different clashing smaller plates of things.

And if it's a mix of children and adults then you want to keep it simple.

Think roasting chicken pieces is a good idea

From experience, DC usually love simple cous-cous salads and grated carrot salad and corn on the cob and sausages of course. And agree with person who said cold pizza (you can buy decent ones from supermarket, cook them, and cut them up in to small squares with scissiors - dc usually love them)

Followed by mini-tubs of ice cream (saves ages serving individual portions and usually much less waste) and bowls of strawberries

One of the easiest dishes for parents is a bag or two of prepared rocket salad with a medium rare steak or two sliced up diagonally on top with a good dressing and shaved parmesan on top, lots of s & p

Can be served with tomato salad and/or new pots

Or go for one "theme" such as mezze ie lamb (big roasted shoulder) tabbouleh, hummus, flatbreads, roasted med veg etc etc (could do wraps for children but that's a bit more time consuming)

Mini caramelised red onion and goats cheese tarts are incredibly and only take 20 minutes.

One of my favourites is tortilla (spanish omelette) or frittata because it can be made in advance, cut up to into bite size pieces and tastes good at room temperature.

Brilliant, thank you everyone.
I'd happily do a mixture of hot and cold and finger / fork food. The problem is I won't have much time to prepare due to being out and about in the day so it will ideally be bung it in the oven, tip it on a plate type dishes Blush
