what to do with --ruined-- leftover cake

I was making a cake for a friend and decided to make one for my dh and dd at the same time. I used a new tin and it got completely stuck so I'm really just left with lots of bits of cake.

I can't be bothered making cake pops but does anyone have any simple dessert ideas that I can make with the cake bits?

thanks in advance

Ice cream. Used to love cake and slightly melted ice cream. Am now allergic to both and really miss it.

Sponge cake and custard is nice.

One of my 'not usually admitted to' desserts is cake, black cherry pie filling, and squirty cream. I guess if you added custard/blancmange/chocolate pudding it could be labelled deconstructed trifle Smile

You could also do a cake/icecream/meringue thing

Summer pudding made with cake instead of bread. My mum once did the bread version and as kids we all hated it. So every subsequent time she did it with sponge and it was lovely.

Cake and custard gets
My vote

cake and custard was always my school dinner favourite. Maybe I'll make that for myself and let the others just eat sponge . DH doesn't like custard. He's very odd

Great ideas here.

Tip: Use baking parchment next time. I never bake without it.

Nocturne123 · 15/08/2015 18:26

Thanks Bunbaker . I always use it too except this was a hello kitty tin and didn't want to ruin the outline . So i just ruined the cake instead Grin . It shan't be wasted though

Trifle

You could also put the cake crumbs pieces in a Pyrex or similar baking dish and cover with an egg, sugar and milk mixture like bread and butter pudding, (using cake instead of the B&B.)
You might also need to cut down on the sugar in the egg and milk mix too but you could use about the same amount of dried fruit as in a B&B pudding, then after baking in the oven until the custard mix has set, finish with a dusting of icing sugar.

Or Queen of Puddings?
