Full sugar squash

Has anyone got any recommendations for full sugar squash, now that Robinsons only make sugar free and Tesco are stopping selling anything that's not sugar free ?

I don't want the dc's to have too many sugar free products, only one will drink water, and so we used to have dilute full sugar squash but it now seems to be like gold dust!

Please don't make this a "why not sugar free"/ "they should be drinking water" debate - I just want to know what you've tried and where I can buy it.

Thank you Smile

M&S.

And they're pricier and slightly more grown up tastes, but most fruit cordials are sugar based, rather than using sweeteners.

ouryve · 12/08/2015 21:58

And just checked the Sainsburys website and they still do sugary hi juice squash in several flavours.

littleducks · 12/08/2015 21:59

We have Asda high juice. have to check labels as they do NAS varities too.

Bottlegreem and rocks are nice but £££££

JamNan · 12/08/2015 22:00

Bottlegreen cordials are quite nice. You can buy it in Tesco.

Why not make your own fruit squash/cordials?

Bustle · 12/08/2015 22:08

Ooh fantastic thank you, I'll look into these.

Tried home made JamNan - I loved it but dc didn't.

I share your frustration. I can taste sweeteners in everything, it's really annoying.

wizzywig · 13/08/2015 12:35

the high juices are tres nice

MEgirl · 17/08/2015 22:59

Ribena was still full sugar when I last checked. Sainsbury blackcurrant squash has sugar but they changed the recipe a while ago and it doesn't taste as good as it used to. We use a lot of Belvoir cordials. I loathe sweeteners both for their taste and the possible health issues.

Onykahonie · 21/08/2015 18:51

Most supermarkets still do their own high-juice full sugar squashes - normally blackcurrant and orange.
If anyone can find a good old fashioned lemon and lime version, let me know!

Howaboutthisone · 24/08/2015 14:09

We get Tesco high juice and dilute lots. I'd prefer that to the reduced sugar loaded with sweetener ones.

VeryPunny · 24/08/2015 14:10

Rock's fruit squashes are good and available in Tesco.

AnnPerkins · 24/08/2015 14:14

We buy high juice, from Sainsburys or Waitrose mostly but I think all the supermarkets do it. Always double check you haven't picked up the no added sugar version though.

PoshPenny · 24/08/2015 14:14

I was going to suggest Ribena too, they do an original full sugar version as well as the sugar free. On balance, I have decided I would rather have full sugar cordial/squash rather than the no added sugar (but artificial sweetener instead) versions.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 24/08/2015 14:16

I'd go for the high juices. Although I prefer robinsons NAS personally, and noticed the other day it no longer has aspartame in. What other artificial sweeteners should I be wary about as I know that one is one of the most contentious.

NannyOggsHedgehogs · 24/08/2015 14:23

Ds and I both go loopy on artificial sweeteners, it just isn't an option for either of us! I've found diluted fruit juice is really nice, especially with cheap fizzy water. Most supermarkets do 4 for £3 type deals on litre cartons.

I know what sugar does to the body, lord only knows what sweeteners do - but I've seen what sugar free calpol does to a cloth nappy and it ain't pretty!

addictedtosugar · 24/08/2015 14:39

We have 50% fruit juice tesco squash in a variety of flavours with full sugar, and ribena.
Are they really stopping all sugared squashes, or just the ready to drink cartons, mainly of ribina and caprisun?

JiltedJohnsJulie · 27/08/2015 16:58

Lidl.

RedSoloCup · 28/08/2015 21:53

I buy the sainsbury, asda or tesco hi juice, I still got this from tesco online this week.

Like you I hate artificial sweeteners but it's getting harder and harder to find things that don't contain them.

Other option is diluted natural juice?

Thomato · 25/10/2020 16:40

Both Asda and Sainsbury's have brought back proper high juice! Look out for Asda bottles that say "with sugar - not sweetener" on the labels or Sainsbury's dark blue bottle top high juice, not the light blue.
Woo!
