grate it into a curry.

TooTickyDoves · 24/11/2006 11:06

Really? Does it soften?

If you grate it finely it gives a lovely flavour and texture to the curry. It's very good with a spicy sweet potato curry.

Ooh, you're making me hungry. Probably one for just me and dd2 though - the others haven't really come to terms with curries.

And when you've finished gorging on the coconut flesh in curries you can use the cleaned out shells to
a) make clip clop noises a la Playschool
b) fill them with fat, seeds, bacon rind etc to feed your garden birds in winter
c) drill holes round the edge, cut lengths of bamboo and tie them on to make windchimes for the garden. Hang them on the hanging basket brackets and they can clank away in the wind all winter. My children loved making these.

they make great spawning nests for Kribensis and small livebearers.
And look nice covered in java moss as part of an aquascape.

TooTickyDoves · 26/11/2006 21:10
