never st eamed in my life, as i think its too complicated.
when i pan fry, i think 'boil an egg' amongst the quickest meals i know

How are you steaming it?

20 minutes is probably fine. I cook salmon in tinfoil parcels all the time, and find you can leave them in the oven far too long without any problem, iyswim.

Just until the flesh turns opaque all the way through. If you carefully pull the fillet apart in the middle a bit, you'll be able to see if the flesh in the middle has cooked. But I would have thought nearer 10 - 15 mins would do it.

hi am steaming in my electric steamer- am on diet so thought would try doing fish in it as only do veggies in it usually- will try for bout 15 me thinks
NQC i usually do in the oven in tin foil and is pretty fool proof isnt it- but i usually use loads of butter so thought i would be a good girl tonight

i put them in the oven in foil with just a drizzle of olive oil which seem s to be left in the foil at the end and which i then drain off.... would that work for you... much simpler than faffing with a steamer?

swifter · 22/11/2006 19:13

nah tis dead simple to take out of the packet and place into steamer!

You can splash a couple tablespoons of wine over the salmon instead of oil or butter in the tinfoil parcels. and that is tasty too!
