Porridge

Does anyone have any nice recipes for porridge. I bought some that had dried berries through it and although it's okay, I thought it was a little bland. I'm not that fussed for it but I thought it would be a nice warm breakfast before I go to work and when I came in from nightshift. Also, it's supposed to be really good for you and I'm trying to steer away from frosties.

Thanks

Follow dirctions on the packet.

Alternatively, just buy plain porridge oats (much cheaper).
Put about 60g in a pan.Add about 500 mls of milk or water or mix of both and stir over low heat, adding more liquid as necessary.
Add your own fruit (I like sliced banana) and/or a drizzle of honey.

Chep as chips, warming and great for you.

my top porridge tip is to buy some frozen berries, raspberries and blueberries frozen separately - fruits of the forest mixes are always padded with blackberries and their attendent gritty seeds - and put some in the bottom of your bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, put a big spoon of muscovado sugar, then the porridge then crushed walnuts and a dollo of greek yogurt.

I do mine in the microwave but you need to do in a much bigger bowl than you think so it doesn't go over the sides.

I add some raisins and/or chopped dried apricots before I cook it. Then afterwards I add some linseeds and sprinkle some flaked almonds on top.

I like the sound of the frozen berries one. I've got loads in the freezer. I'll give that one a bash tomorrow.

Porridge variations:
1 cup porridge oats
2 cups water (or half milk/water mix)
simmer till thick
Add cinnamon/banana/apples/raisins/honey/berries,etc
Been doing porridge a lot for my 9 month old dd a LOT recently
She likes hers with a Frutapura pot in it
