Wondered if anyone could help? I have been bequeathed a Kitchen Aid mixer (long story) but it is American. Does anyone happen to know if there is any way of getting it converted to UK voltage or whether I could buy some sort of transformer for it?. Thanks in advance

I am sure you can find a transformer or just change the plug (adaptor). I brought back a lot of things from Canada and all worked except BIG appliances.

bells 2 I got one of those free with my AGA . It is wonderful. I use the dough hook to bake bread rolls almost daily.
If you get stuck, I am sure your local aga shop could advise.
If it's good enough for Nigella, it's good enough for us!

If you change the plug, you may need to change the fuse to a different amp too. R

Cheers! Jasper that's exactly why I am keen to get it going. I started making bread during my maternity leave and loved it but figured that the dough hook would make a big big difference to the time it takes. Isn't the Aga wonderful as a warm place for dough to rise?

bells 2 ...Ah...the AGA...don't get me started. I am SUCH an aga bore .
Here is a tip. One day I ran out of strong plain flour so I used the cheap ordinary stuff (12p a bag)and it made NO difference at all, so now I use it all the time. It is usually rolls I make , I don't know if it would have made a difference to a big loaf.
I make 15 rolls from one and a half pounds of flour and it costs less than 20p, the most expensive part being the sachet of yeast. Keep meaning to try the fresh stuff.

Bells2, how did you get on with this? I am currently considering ordering one from eBay, but they only have American ones just now but many are available worldwide and if the postage isn't too expensive it might be a bargain. Did the transformer cost much and does it do the job? TIA.
