Mum I'm Starving! What to feed a hollow legged 9 year old?

My 9 year old DS is always hungry. He's very slim, quite sporty and starving 10 minutes after dinner. Any suggestions for healthy, filling snacks gratefully received before he develops a life long dependence on crisps and breakfast cereal...

My 7 yo is like this but it's because he plays football about 6 hours a day and is growing so fast it's almost visible. ..

Crisp bread with peanut butter 6 at a time, porridge to serve a family, bananas and packs of "student food" (mixed nuts and dried fruit) are his staples, but when DD is having a growth spurt/ hungry phase it's all about 3 scrambled eggs for breakfast and a lot of cheese as snacks...

I keep trying alternatives but never find anything that suits all my kids, so I guess it's even harder to suggest things for other people's kids!

I do sometimes wonder if I should encourage my children to be couch potatoes, it would save a fortune on food.

Flapjacks are way quicker than cakes. I melt a lump of golden syrup and some butter- approx half a pack-in a pan. Nobody has the time to measure golden syrup. Add oats till it seems enough. Pats into a cake Tim or tray- small enough to allow them to be average flapjack depth. Cook on 180 till golden. Cut and Eat.

I know what you mean drinks but I don't want them to end up like me Blush I never did any sport unless forced at school (and thenI was an expert at the go slow protest and ddefiant enough to sit and pick daisies instead of fielding or insist cross country was a nice stroll) after the age of 11, so i reality I hope they stay as active even if it does impact on my budgeting!

When my older kids did a martial arts taster one parent said he was hoping to motivate his son to get off the sofa, which I just can't imagine - I was hoping mine would eventually get enough control over their energy not to constantly have to be reminded the sofa is not a trampoline, and an indoor suitable sport for days when it'sblowing a gale or torrential rain or the football field is under deep snow... Another easy pancake 'recipe' which can have fruit added: one egg, same sized cup of s/r flour and milk. A standard cup size was always plenty for my three little kids, but now we're just at the hollow legs stage I think doubling up will be necessary (8, 6 & 3, all having a growth spurt!)
