The title says it all really, am thinking of buying one. Any experiences/ recommendations? Thanks Smile

We had one given to us as a wedding present.I use it mainly in the winter, but am about to get it out to cook some artichokes from the garden. They take about an hour to boil, but in pressure cooker, its only about 20 mins.

Our model is pretty old, but keep your eyes peeled for them in the summer sales. Suggest a stainless steel one rather than aluminium. Its heavier, but I can never quite shake the aluminium connection with Altzheimers....

Alternatively, my DM has one of the Lakeland ones.

Yes - I've had one for years, and then had to buy a new one for my new induction hob- its a Prestige stainless steel one.
I make a lot of soup, so use it for making stock.
Also for par cooking stew to get them tender, then in the oven to finish browning - saves hours and electricity
And I steam my Christmas puddings in it as well

I've toyed with this idea on and off too, OP.

Anyone know if there's a good website for recipes/tips? I find the whole notion a bit scary - all that high pressure Hmm

This is from the woman who left a pot of stock on the hob all night and nearly burned the house down………..

Over 6 years ago and the DCs still remember the burnt smell that lingered for weeks on their school bags Grin

I use my pressure cooker for stock, soup, mash potato (never do it any other way now) and occasionally for stews/ragu etc though I find the slow cooker better for them in general.
