Got a school fundraiser this weekend. There need to be cakes/bakes packaged and priced up to sell and take away, as well as stuff to serve and eat on the day in the tea tent. We don't lack tray bakes or biscuits. I've made a sticky gingerbread to sell whole, but what else could I do...? Stuff that sells well/isn't a chocolate crispy or cupcake.

I've always found lemon cake goes well as do large chocolate muffins. Plain chocolate with chips in. People get put off by things that look like they were decorated by grubby fingered kids...so no smarties etc on top.

Thanks mrsnextdoor lemon is a good shout. Agree with you about wobbly child-assisted decorations!

We run a monthly bake sale at school and we find overly iced cupcakes go well- with lots of stuff on top- so maltesers etc. So they look a bit bling. Doesn't seem to matter how good the cake bit actually is. Ones with a big swirl of white butter cream icing and a dollop of strawberry sauce or some sprinkles so they look like 99's are a bit hit and v easy to do.

Sweetie kebabs. Easy and kids love them.

Tablet

Carrot cake always goes down well.

Sweetie kebabs, wow. I'll look into those. We have a mum who makes beautiful carrot cupcakes (and I thought my mum's carrot cake recipe the best until I tasted these) so there's no way I want to challenge her carrot cake crown!

Bingy cupcakes. I noticed at another fair recently that cakes with strawberries on top looked really bright and pretty amid all the brown. So a bit of colour us a good idea. I left my gingerbread out all night by mistake so it's for family consumption only now... Dry!
Going to do brownies and something blingy now!

Cake pops go down well with the kids, easy for them to eat while walking around too.
Blueberry muffins
Coffee and walnut cake
Mini Victoria puddings

I always avoid the gooey cupcakes with half a ton of frosting. What I like to buy is a plain or Choc chip muffin or fairy cake with a little bit of melted chocolate on top.
