my friend is making me a castle cake for ds's party and has asked me to get a board and box - 12". reason i asked her was to save money but with ingredients it seems more expensive. where can i get it from cheapest. was out yesterday and bought 8" one she had asked for and too small. but was miles away and cant go back up there = hence needing it cheap in high street. thanks everyone. (needs for tomorrow so no internet please)

ask in a baker's shop for the box - they'll often give you the fold-together boxes they use for cream cakes etc.

board doesn't need to be a special cake board, though Tesco etc often have a good selection. Try a tray covered in foil.

Tescos often have cake boards. Or do what I do when I'm making for family and friends and use a hardbacked book of the appropriate size wrapped in clingfilm then foil. Works brilliantly, nearly free and you can get practically any size you want.
